Important Before the Tour Starts

Snowmobile tours in Gudauri may include scenic family-style routes as well as freeride routes, depending on the selected format, machine type, weather, terrain, snow depth, and operator decision on the day of the activity. Conditions in the mountains can change quickly, and safety always comes first.

  • A valid identity document may be requested before participation. Please bring an ID and be ready to confirm the booking details.
  • This is not a free-rental format. Movement is organized together with the third-party operator’s staff, who explain the route logic, control basics, and safety rules before the ride.
  • The final route, pace, and permitted riding zone may be changed, shortened, or restricted depending on snow quality, hidden obstacles, weather, and visibility.

Core Safety Rules

These rules apply to both scenic snowmobile tours and freeride snowmobile tours, with additional route-specific limitations explained before the ride.

1. Follow all instructions

The participant must follow all instructions given before and during the ride by the third-party operator’s staff coordinating movement, route order, and riding safety.

2. Keep full control of the machine

Sudden acceleration, reckless braking, racing, drifting, sharp turns without control, or any other aggressive riding behavior is not permitted.

3. Minimum distance – 20 meters or more

Snowmobiles must keep a minimum distance of 20 meters from each other unless the operator’s staff instruct a larger distance due to terrain, powder, slope, turns, or visibility.

4. No overtaking without clear instruction

Overtaking another rider is not allowed unless it is specifically approved and safely coordinated for that exact part of the route.

5. Scenic snowmobiles – no deep snow unless allowed

Scenic or family-style snowmobiles must not be taken into deep snow, off-route zones, or terrain not specifically approved for that machine and route format.

6. Freeride snowmobiles – follow the lead exactly

Freeride snowmobiles may enter deeper snow only where the lead rider from the operator’s team directs movement. Riders must not choose independent lines or unknown snow zones.

7. Hidden obstacles are real

Deep snow may hide rocks, frozen ground irregularities, hard snow layers, ice, and other obstacles. The participant accepts the duty to ride carefully and not force the machine into unsafe terrain.

8. Zero tolerance for alcohol or drugs

A participant under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance affecting reaction, judgment, or coordination may be refused participation immediately.

Route Movement

How Group Movement Is Managed

Snowmobile movement is coordinated in an organized format. This is not an unsupervised machine handover. The route is led and controlled according to current snow and mountain conditions.

Lead Rider

The route is typically opened by the lead rider from the third-party operator’s team.

Follow the Line

Riders must follow the instructed line and route order, especially in deeper snow or limited-visibility conditions.

Controlled Stops

Stops, regrouping points, and terrain transitions are made only where the operator’s staff consider it suitable and safe.

Conditions Override Plan

The route may be slowed down, shortened, adjusted, or canceled if the actual mountain conditions require it.

Wind, snowfall, low visibility, hidden obstacles, ice patches, steep sections, and changing terrain may require stricter route control at any time during the experience.

Admission Conditions

Participation is possible only if the rider meets the minimum conditions and accepts the responsibility logic described on this page.

Minimum age and adult presence

The standard minimum age for riding is 16. Family format (10–30 minutes): children from 5 ride as passengers with their parents. Participants from 16 to 18 years old may join only with the presence and approval of a parent, legal guardian, or another responsible adult accepted by the operator.

No driver’s license required

A driving license is not required for this activity, but the rider must be able to understand instructions, control the machine carefully, and behave responsibly throughout the ride.

One rider per snowmobile

Participation on this page is based on a one-rider-per-snowmobile format unless the operator explicitly confirms a different arrangement for a specific route or machine.

Physical and behavioral fitness

The participant must be in suitable physical condition for winter mountain riding, able to follow instructions, and not behave in an aggressive, careless, or unsafe manner.

Insurance is strongly recommended. Your policy should cover adventure activities in Georgia and specifically include snowmobile riding if you choose this activity.

If there is not enough snow on your date, we refund your prepayment or offer an alternative: quad bikes, buggies, horse riding, rafting on a mountain river, a paragliding flight, a tour from Gudauri to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), a transfer from Tbilisi airport to Gudauri, or a stay in our apartments in New Gudauri, next to the gondola lift in the heart of the ski resort.
