Who is this tour for?
Couples, friends and small groups of up to 4 who want mountain panoramas, photos and a calm pace with no crowds. The activity level is moderate, so it also suits first-timers who like a relaxed format with a walk.
How long is the tour and how much walking is there?
The whole day takes 7–10 hours. The walking part is a guided hike from Juta towards the Green Lake (approx. 2,479 m); its length and pace are adjusted to your group — you can keep it relaxed or add more hiking.
Where does the tour start and where is the pickup?
The tour starts in Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), where your guide and car meet you. The exact pickup point and time are confirmed at booking.
What is included in the price?
A comfortable private car, a guide, full organisation and coordination of the day, the hike to the Green Lake and — in season — bathing in mountain streams and waterfalls.
What is not included?
Meals and drinks (lunch at a local café is at your own expense), personal expenses and all add-on activities — quad bikes, buggies, horseback riding, rafting. Those are booked and paid separately.
How much does the tour cost and what deposit is needed?
539 GEL per car for 1–2 people and 639 GEL for 3–4 people; the 2-day extension is +499 GEL. A deposit secures the booking (300 GEL / 100 EUR per group), and the balance is paid in cash on the tour day — to your driver or at Café Bar PILOT, depending on where the tour starts.
How can I pay?
The deposit can be paid by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer or Bank of Georgia. Deposit details are sent after the booking is confirmed.
Is it a group or a private tour? What vehicle is used?
Private only: the car carries just your party of 1–4, your guide and driver — no strangers. Transport and guiding are provided by licensed partner carriers; SkyAtlantida organises and coordinates the day.
What is the road from Stepantsminda to Juta like? Do we need a 4x4?
It is about 20 km and 30–45 minutes: paved at first, then an unpaved mountain road. The partner carrier chooses a vehicle suited to the season and road conditions — nothing for you to arrange. Sections of the road are occasionally closed, in which case the guide adjusts the plan.
When is the best time to visit Juta?
In the warm season, when the road and trails are open. June to September usually offers the most reliable conditions; in May–June there is still a lot of snow and rain in the mountains, and it gets noticeably colder in October. We will confirm availability for your dates at booking.
Can we go in winter? What if the road is closed?
The route is designed for the warm season. In winter the road to Juta and the Georgian Military Highway can close because of snow and avalanches — the guide/carrier makes the safety decision. If the road is closed, we move your booking to another date with no loss of deposit.
What should I bring?
Layers for the weather plus a wind/rain jacket — mountain weather changes fast; comfortable walking shoes, water, sunglasses and sunscreen, and cash for lunch (cafés in Juta take cash and there are no ATMs). In the warm season, a swimsuit and towel are handy for the mountain streams.
Can we bring children?
In many cases yes — children come with their parents and the day can be made more relaxed. Tell us the children's ages, season and preferred pace at booking: part of the trail above the village is steep and the altitude is around 2,200 m. A child seat is available on request at booking.
How fit do I need to be?
The activity level is moderate — best for people who enjoy walking. The first stretch of trail above Juta is fairly steep, after which it eases. If you prefer less effort, we choose the relaxed format with a shorter walk and viewpoints.
What language does the guide speak?
Guiding is available in English or Russian. Let us know your preferred language when booking.
Can we change the route or add another activity?
Yes, if agreed in advance: the route adapts to the season, weather and your pace. Quad bikes in Gudauri, horseback riding and rafting (year-round; winter 5 Dec – 1 Apr: 12:00–16:00, 30-min route only) combine well with this day — they are booked and paid separately. We do not recommend adding paragliding or buggies to this route, to keep the day well structured.
Where and how do we eat?
After the hike you have lunch at a local place serving home-style Georgian food, paid separately. Bring cash — there are no ATMs in Juta. A snack and water for the trail are a good idea too.
Can we extend the tour to two days?
Yes, there is a 2-day extension for +499 GEL: more scenic spots and hidden corners, more time for local food and atmosphere, and a relaxed rhythm for photos. Accommodation details are confirmed at booking.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Afternoon storms are common in the mountains, so the day is planned to get the walk done at the best time. The guide may adjust route points for safety. If the tour is cancelled because of unsafe weather or a closed road, you get a free reschedule — and a deposit refund if rescheduling is impossible.
What are the cancellation and rescheduling terms?
Bad weather or a closed road — free rescheduling; if that is impossible, the deposit is refunded minus payment-system fees within 5–10 business days. If the guest cancels after confirmation, does not show up or arrives too late for the tour to start, the deposit is non-refundable. See the Terms and Conditions and Refund Policy for details.
Is there mobile signal in Juta?
There is signal on most of the road and in the village, but it drops on the trail towards the lake. Let people know in advance and download an offline map if you want to follow the route.
How do I book?
Message us on WhatsApp with your date, number of guests, where you are staying and the day format you prefer. We reply daily from 09:00 to 21:00 (GMT+4), usually within ~30 minutes; once the details are agreed, a deposit secures the date and we send you the instructions. Book in advance, especially for fixed dates or if you want to add activities.
