Skydiving in Georgia — Parachute Jumps in Telavi

Real freefall over Kakheti: a tandem jump from 3000 or 4000 m harnessed to a certified instructor — standard or VIP. The season is short — July and August only — so it pays to check dates and slots early. SkyAtlantida organizes and books; the jumps themselves are performed by independent licensed providers.

How it works

From meeting to memories — step by step

Step 1

Final confirmation

Once the date is agreed, we confirm the slot, format, time and meeting point in Telavi. Do not travel without final confirmation: scheduling depends on weather, airfield operations and the provider.

Step 2

Check-in and briefing

You arrive at the agreed meeting point, go through the details, weight and harness-fit check, sign the forms and receive the briefing from the independent licensed provider.

Step 3

Ascent and jump

Ascent to 3000 or 4000 m (the site runs a helicopter jump format), freefall harnessed to a certified instructor and a canopy ride down to landing.

Step 4

Landing and the rest of the day

After landing — photo or video according to your package, then free time. It makes sense to continue through Kakheti: Telavi, Signagi or a two-day regional route.

⚠️ Important. Skydiving is an activity with objective risks, and the final decision on participation and start belongs to the independent operator on site, purely on safety grounds. Before paying, disclose your age, weight and health condition honestly: withholding details is grounds for cancellation. On the day, follow every instruction from the instructor, complete the weight and harness-fit check, sign the forms on site and report immediately if you feel unwell. A confirmed time does not mean an immediate start: wind, visibility, cloud cover and the aircraft schedule can shift the slot. Full safety briefing →
📍 Meeting point. Telavi, Kakheti region (airfield) — not Gudauri. The exact meeting point and time are confirmed via WhatsApp after final confirmation; please do not travel without it.

FAQ

Skydiving in Georgia — Parachute Jumps in Telavi: everything guests ask

What is skydiving in Telavi and who is it for?

It is a parachute jump from 3000 or 4000 m over Kakheti: real freefall followed by a canopy ride. Tandem needs no experience at all — you jump harnessed to a certified instructor; guests who want extra service can choose VIP.

Where exactly does the jump take place — in Gudauri?

No. The jumps are organized in Telavi, in the Kakheti region, not in Gudauri. The exact meeting point and time are confirmed in advance via WhatsApp — please do not travel without final confirmation.

When is skydiving in Georgia available?

Only in July and August — a short seasonal window. Within the season, scheduling depends on weather, airfield operations and provider confirmation, so it is best to write early. If your dates do not match, paragliding is the natural alternative.

How does the day go and how much time should I allow?

You arrive at the agreed meeting point, go through the details and weight check, sign the forms and get the provider's briefing, then ascend (the site runs a helicopter jump format), jump and land. The freefall itself lasts tens of seconds and the canopy ride a few minutes, but allow several hours on site: waiting for a weather window and your slot is normal practice. Exact timing is confirmed at booking.

What is the difference between 3000 m and 4000 m?

Altitude sets the length of the freefall: from 4000 m it is noticeably longer, and the format counts as extended. Tandem 3000 m costs 1799 GEL, tandem 4000 m — 1999 GEL; 3000 m is the classic first-timer choice, 4000 m is for maximum intensity.

Do I need experience?

No experience is needed for tandem — the instructor controls the jump from exit to landing; all you need to do is follow the briefing. We organize tandem jumps only — standard or VIP.

What is the VIP format?

A premium option for guests who want a higher level of service and attention to detail: VIP 3000 m — 3899 GEL, VIP 4000 m — 3999 GEL. VIP jumps are booked on prior request; the exact package contents are confirmed at booking.

What is the minimum age? Can children jump?

From 16 with written permission of parents or guardians. Age guideline for all activities — up to 70; older guests should consult their doctor and refrain if in doubt. Parents or guardians are responsible for children; if a child behaves unsafely for themselves or the group, the instructor may remove them from the activity with the full payment retained.

Is there a weight limit and why?

Weight limit — up to 100 kg; it is a safety requirement, so message us in advance if you are close to it.

Which health conditions must I disclose in advance?

Any current or past condition affecting tolerance to altitude, pressure change, canopy opening and landing: heart and lung disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy or fainting, asthma, ear and sinus problems, diabetes, serious injuries to the head, neck, back or joints, shoulder dislocation, recent surgery. The operator may request written medical clearance; withholding details is grounds for cancellation.

Can I jump if pregnant, after alcohol or after scuba diving?

No: pregnancy (including suspected pregnancy) rules out participation, and alcohol or prohibited substances before the jump are not allowed — the worldwide dropzone norm is at least 24 hours alcohol-free. If you went scuba diving, were ill, injured or under heavy physical strain shortly before the date, report it in advance — it affects approval.

What should I wear? Can I jump with glasses or contacts?

Comfortable sportswear for the weather (on a cool day, several thin layers rather than a bulky jacket) and closed lace-up shoes; no flip-flops, jewellery or items in pockets — at freefall speed everything flies out. Tie long hair back. Glasses and contacts are fine: the provider issues goggles that fit over them.

Can I eat before the jump? Will I get motion sick?

Yes — eat a normal but light meal; an empty stomach raises the risk of nausea, and heavy greasy food does not help either; drink water in moderation. Motion sickness is uncommon and usually happens under canopy during turns; if you are prone to it, tell your instructor and keep your eyes on the horizon.

Is it scary? Can I breathe in freefall?

Nerves before the exit are normal and pass within seconds of leaving the aircraft. There is usually no roller-coaster stomach-drop: speed builds gradually. You can breathe freely; if you feel short of air, just shout — it forces you to exhale and inhale. The instructor controls the landing: lift your legs on command.

Who gives the briefing and is responsible for safety? In what language?

The final technical briefing, equipment and the jump itself are the responsibility of the independent licensed operator and instructor on site; they also make the final call on participation and start, purely on safety grounds. SkyAtlantida communicates in Russian and English; the instructor's language is confirmed at booking.

What is included in the price?

Organization and booking through SkyAtlantida, coordination of the date, slot and details, the chosen jump format, preparation and equipment at the provider, briefing and instructor support, plus photo or video depending on the selected package.

What is not included?

Transport to Telavi (unless arranged separately), meals, accommodation and personal expenses, extra media services outside the package, any changes without prior confirmation, jumps outside the seasonal window, and personal insurance.

Do I need insurance?

Personal insurance is not included in the price. We recommend a policy that explicitly covers parachute jumps: standard travel insurance usually excludes or restricts skydiving. Check that the policy names skydiving / sport parachuting, includes medical and evacuation cover, and is valid in Georgia.

How do I book and is a deposit required?

Deposit: 280 GEL / 95 EUR per person. It secures the booking and is part of the price; the balance is paid on site. In bad weather or a safety cancellation — a free reschedule, or a refund minus bank fees and services already provided (5–10 business days). No-show or guest-initiated cancellation — the deposit is not refunded.

What happens if the weather turns bad?

The jump depends on wind, visibility, cloud cover and the aircraft schedule, so even a confirmed time does not guarantee an immediate start. In unsuitable weather the operator delays, shifts or reschedules the jump to the nearest available slot. If the reschedule does not work for you, the deposit is refunded minus bank fees and any services already rendered within 5–10 business days.

Can I cancel? Does payment guarantee the jump?

If you cancel for personal reasons, changed plans, late arrival or failure to meet the conditions, the deposit is non-refundable; arriving more than 15 minutes late risks losing your slot. Payment confirms the booking and organization service; the jump itself always depends on approval, weather and the operator's decision on the day.

How do I get to Telavi and can I combine it with Kakheti?

Transport is not included, but a transfer can be requested separately when booking: from Tbilisi 299 / 349 / 399 GEL per car (1–2 / 3–4 / 5–6 people), there and back; waiting — 80 GEL per hour; transfer deposit — 60 GEL / 20 EUR per car. After the jump it makes sense to continue through Kakheti — wine routes, Signagi or a two-day regional tour, which we can also help organize.

Will I get photos and video?

Photo or video is included depending on the package; extra media services are agreed in advance, not on site. Personal cameras and phones are usually not allowed on tandem jumps — a safety rule at most dropzones; confirm with the provider at booking.

How is skydiving different from paragliding?

Skydiving is a sharp adrenaline hit and real freefall from 3000–4000 m, available only in July–August in Telavi. Paragliding is a smooth flight with scenic views, available most of the year in Gudauri and Kazbegi. If you want freefall and Kakheti — jump; if your dates are off-season or you prefer a calm flight — paraglide.
