The main thing to know

There is no single team at the take-off

There is no single paragliding team in Gudauri. Several separate operators and independent pilots work from the same area — and their qualifications, service standards and level of responsibility can be very different. People standing at the same take-off site do not necessarily belong to the same company.

The same applies to tours, transfers and activities across Georgia: the person selling a service and the person performing it are often not the same. You have every right to know who exactly will be responsible for you.

Ask them of any provider — including us.

Who exactly will fly with you — and with each of your children?
What are the full names of the pilots?
Can they show you their current tandem-pilot qualifications or licences?
Is passenger insurance included and valid?
How much tandem experience does each pilot have, particularly with children?
What are the age and weight requirements?
Which operator is responsible for the flight, and what is their direct contact number?
Who will deliver your photos and videos, and when will you receive them?
What happens if the weather is unsuitable?

When to stop

Red flags

A pilot’s identity is unclear and no name is given.

Documents or licences are refused.

The agreed pilot is suddenly replaced without explanation.

You are being rushed to pay or to take off.

A face covering may be normal because of wind, sun or cold — but you should still know the pilot’s full identity and save their contact details before take-off. You should choose your pilots rather than simply accept whoever approaches or is assigned to you.

Price & recommendations

Why “five lari cheaper” is not an argument

Please avoid making the decision only because of a lower price, one recommendation or a high Google rating.
Compare recent, detailed reviews across several platforms, including Tripadvisor and Google.
If a hotel, driver, guide or travel agency recommends an activity, it is reasonable to ask whether the recommendation is commission-based and who will actually provide the service.

A commission does not automatically mean poor service — but you deserve complete transparency. A bad experience hurts more than one guest: people then say “Georgia is a scam”, and everyone who works honestly suffers with them.

Context worth knowing. Paragliding is an aviation activity, and the choice of pilot is an aviation decision. For context, you can search online for “Gudauri paragliding accident 29 July 2022”: a fatal tandem incident was followed by the crash of a rescue helicopter. We mention this respectfully — not to frighten you, but as a reminder that the choice of pilot must be taken seriously.

How it works with us
