One of Georgia's most scenic routes in a private format: Ananuri Fortress, Zhinvali Reservoir, Jvari Pass and the panoramas of Gudauri — at your own pace, without the rush. Comfortable transport, a flexible itinerary and only proven stops, plus an optional overnight in the mountains and resort activities if you wish.
The first big stop on the Georgian Military Highway: a historic fortress complex overlooking the Aragvi River. Walk the walls and towers, enjoy the view over the water and take your first mountain photos.
Turquoise water framed by mountains right below the walls of Ananuri — one of the most photogenic spots on the route. A short viewpoint stop.
The road climbs through the Kushauri Valley to the Jvari Pass — the highest point of the route with panoramic views of the Greater Caucasus. Expect it to be noticeably cooler than in Tbilisi.
An optional lunch stop in Pasanauri, a village famous for its khinkali. Lunch is at your discretion and paid separately.
Georgia's main ski resort. In winter it's snow, slopes and winter activities; in summer — panoramas, walks, buggies and paragliding. You can also stay overnight here and continue the next day.
The viewpoint with the mosaic monument above the gorge — Gudauri's most recognisable photo spot and the best Caucasus panoramas of the day.
A relaxed drive back after a full day in the mountains, with drop-off at your hotel or address in Tbilisi.
Private tour: comfortable transport, guide or escort along the route, a carefully planned itinerary and a flexible pace. Lunch and optional activities are extra.
The same package for a party of 3–4 in one car. Priced per vehicle, not per person.
Extend the tour by one night: sunset in the mountains, a relaxed dinner, morning views and a second day without rushing. We can help with accommodation in central Gudauri; what exactly the extension covers is confirmed at booking.
Prices are indicative, in GEL per car (1–4 people) unless stated otherwise, and may change with the season — the manager confirms the final amount for your dates and party on WhatsApp. A deposit of 300 GEL / 100 EUR per group secures the booking and is deducted from the tour price; bad weather or a closed road = free reschedule.
Message us on WhatsApp — we usually reply within ~30 minutes (09:00–21:00 GMT+4), confirm availability and send a deposit invoice:
Payment: the deposit is paid by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer or Bank of Georgia. The balance is paid in cash on the tour day — to your driver or at Café Bar PILOT, depending on where the tour starts; cash in lari, or USD/EUR with a 3% currency-handling fee. Terms · Refunds
For anyone who wants to see the best of the Georgian Military Highway in one day at a relaxed, private pace: couples, families, small groups of up to 4 and Tbilisi visitors short on time. It suits both first-time visitors and returning guests who come back for the mountains.
Usually up to 10–12 hours including the drive and stops. The exact length depends on the season, weather, your pace, the number of stops and whether you add activities in Gudauri.
We pick you up at your hotel or address in Tbilisi. Departure is usually in the morning so the whole route fits comfortably; the exact time is agreed after booking.
Included: comfortable private transport, a guide or escort along the route, a carefully planned itinerary and a flexible pace. Lunch in Pasanauri, drinks and all optional activities are paid separately; if any stop requires an entrance ticket, the guide will let you know in advance.
649 GEL per car for 1–2 people and 749 GEL for 3–4 people. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so a party of four gets the best value. An overnight extension in Gudauri is 499 GEL.
Yes — a deposit secures the date, the vehicle and the itinerary: 300 GEL / 100 EUR per group. The balance is paid in cash on the tour day — to your driver or at Café Bar PILOT, depending on where the tour starts. The deposit can be paid by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer or Bank of Georgia.
The tour is private — only your party, up to 4 people in one comfortable car. SkyAtlantida organizes and coordinates the trip, which is operated by licensed partner drivers and guides. More than four of you? Message us and we'll suggest a format.
Yes — in winter the route is at its most atmospheric, and in Gudauri you can add skiing, an instructor or snowmobiles. However, the Georgian Military Highway around the Jvari Pass can close in winter because of snow and avalanches; the guide or driver makes the go/no-go call for safety, and if the road is closed the tour is rescheduled with no loss of deposit.
Layers and a windproof jacket — Jvari Pass and Gudauri are noticeably colder than Tbilisi even in summer; comfortable shoes for walking around the fortress and viewpoints; sunglasses and sunscreen (the mountain sun is strong), water, a snack, a phone charger and some cash for lunch and souvenirs. In winter add a warm jacket, hat and gloves.
Yes — children are welcome with their parents; a child seat is available on request when booking. The private format lets us stop as often as needed. If your child gets carsick on winding roads, seat them facing forward, skip a heavy meal before departure and bring motion-sickness remedies — the guide will pause whenever needed.
English or Russian — just tell us your preferred language when booking.
Yes — that's the strength of a private tour: we can adjust how long we stop at each point, focus on views and photo spots, a slower pace or activities, and add an overnight in Gudauri. Share your wishes in advance; minor changes for weather and road conditions are possible en route as well.
In the warm season — paragliding, quad bikes, buggies, Maverick, VIP Buggy Defender, horseback riding, rafting (year-round; winter 5 Dec – 1 Apr: 12:00–16:00, 30-min route only) and hiking (May–October); in winter — snowmobiles (season 5 Dec – 15 Apr; bookings 15 Nov – 10 May, snow permitting), ski and snowboard instructors and gear rental. All activities are booked and paid separately — mention them when booking and we'll fit them into the day.
The route includes a lunch stop in Pasanauri, a village famous for khinkali. Lunch is paid separately and the stop is optional — you can use that time for viewpoints or activities instead.
Yes — the one-night extension is 499 GEL. We can help arrange accommodation in central Gudauri; it's ideal for catching the sunset in the mountains, adding activities and enjoying a second day without rushing. What exactly the extension covers is confirmed at booking.
In summer and the shoulder seasons Gudauri offers panoramas, walks, buggy and quad rides, rafting, paragliding and simply relaxing with a view. That's why the route works year-round, not just in ski season.
Jvari Pass sits at about 2,400 m and Gudauri at about 2,200 m. Most guests find it perfectly comfortable, but the air is cooler and the sun stronger: drink water, take viewpoints slowly and bring sunglasses. If you're sensitive to altitude, tell the guide and we'll adjust the pace.
The route and stops may vary slightly depending on weather, road and safety conditions. If the tour can't run because of bad weather or a closed road, we reschedule free of charge; if rescheduling isn't possible, the deposit is refunded minus payment-system fees within 5–10 business days.
If you cancel after confirmation, don't show up, or arrive so late that the tour can't start as scheduled, the deposit is non-refundable. Full details are in the Terms and Conditions and Refund Policy on the site.
Message us on WhatsApp with the tour name, preferred date, number of participants and your name. We reply daily 09:00–21:00 (GMT+4), usually within ~30 minutes; once the date is confirmed we'll send the deposit details.
Ananuri Fortress above the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir, the panoramas from Jvari Pass and the viewpoint at the Friendship Monument above Gudauri. The light is best in the morning and late afternoon — and on a private tour we stop wherever you want to shoot.
