“XC trips” exam

What this exam checks

Not flying technique — that is checked by the “Advanced Pilot” and SIV tracks. Here we check whether you understand how an XC day works: who makes the decisions, how the height margin is worked out, what to do about an unplanned landing and a loss of radio contact, and what the equipment and insurance requirements are on a trip.

The questions are drawn at random from a bank of 65, and the answer options are shuffled. The pass mark is 80 %, which means no more than 6 mistakes out of 30. Not passed: after 72 hours you can request a retake on this page, the instructor opens it.
