The third module of the “Small wings” course. What a trimmer is and how it differs from line trimming, what changes when the trimmers are closed and open, how much speed they give, why we close them in turbulence, why you must not brake with open trimmers, and what the “all or nothing” rule means.
The trimmeria strap with a buckle on the rear risers. With it you set the angle of attack the wing flies at without brakes. sits on the rear risersitapes between the lines and the harness. The front ones hold the leading edge, the rear ones hold the rear part of the wing., one on each side. The buckle holds the strap where you left it, so your hands are free.
Real-life example. A trimmer is like the seat-back adjustment in a car: you set it once, and the seat holds its position until you change it. The brakes are like the steering wheel: they work all the time.
Do not confuse it with the word “line trimming”.iin our school this is the name of a wing service: laser measurement of the lines and adjusting their length to the manufacturer's figures. It has nothing to do with the trimmer straps. A trimmer is a strap on the risers. Line trimming is a wing service in the workshop.
The full module text, the practice sessions and the exams are open to those who train with us. Access to the theory is included in the course fee: it runs for the whole course and for three months after it ends.
