Avalanches: equipment and rescue

“Speed riding” block, module 5. Transceiver, shovel and probe for everyone, the transceiver all day, what to do if an avalanche releases, transceiver search, probe and digging out, time, the standard and an avalanche course.

⏱ 20 min📖 9 sections✓ 20 questions2 animated diagrams

Three items for everyone

In shortOff-piste, everyone has a transceiver, a shovel and a probe. All three: a transceiver alone helps you find a person, but not dig them out. The transceiver is on transmit all day. If an avalanche buries a friend, the people nearby do the rescue, and every minute counts.
  • Avalanche transceiveriA small device on your body. In transmit mode it sends a signal, in search mode it looks for someone else's signal.: included in the course price.
  • Shovel and probe from 240 cm: your own. You can rent the full kit with a backpack from us for 100 € per day.
  • Avalanche airbag backpack: optional; it will not make things worse, only better. It does not replace the transceiver, shovel and probe.

Real-life example. You put on the seat belt every time, though you may need it only once in your life.

What follows is for our students
