One day tour to Stepantsminda (Kazbegi)
Description
Stepantsminda village, located in the
north of Georgia, at the foot of Kazbek mountain (Kazbek peak, 5033 meters
high). It is 165 km from Tbilisi, and 11 km from the border with Russia. The
famous Georgian Military Road leads from Tbilisi to Kazbegi.
Your first stop will be near Mtskheta where the confluence of two rivers - the Kura and Aragvi - is located. These two small mountain rivers famous for the fact that being different in color they still keep their own colors even after merge.
The
next stop is waiting for you in the village of Gudauri. This is a
famous ski resort. Here you can spend as much time as you like. In
winter, from activities it can offer: ski, snowmobile, paragliding or
you can just sit in a cozy cafe for lunch or coffee. In the summer time,
the paratrope camping SkyAtlantida is a notable place in Gudauri. Here
you will have the opportunity to take a flight on a paraglider over the
Aragvi gorge, take a ride on the quad bike or horses, or just have a cup
of tea while enjoying the vivid beauty of the gorge.
Then you continue the route through the Cross Pass and
make a short stop at the Soviet-era “People’s Friendship” mountain view
point overlooking a deep gorge of Caucasus mountain range. After
arriving in Kazbegi there are several options for the development of
events, depending on the preferences of customers, which is stipulated
upon arrival. Of them:
1. You will change the car to an all-wheel
drive jeep to get to the Church of the Holy Trinity Gergeti, located at
an altitude of 2170 m, and enjoy the breathtaking view of Mount Kazbegi.
The driver will be waiting for you at the foot of the mountain. The
jeep is not included in the tour price and is payable locally.
2. You
can go up to the church on foot, which takes about two hours. The
driver will be waiting for you at the foot of the mountain.
3. If you
have no desire to go up to the church off-road, the driver will bring
you to the "Rooms Hotel", famous for its chic road with a breathtaking
view of Mount Kazbeg. Here you can have lunch and spend as much time as
you need.
After you are waiting for your return to Tbilisi. On the way back you visit the Ananuri complex, the former residence of Argveti Dukes. The complex features churches and towers dating back to the 16-17th centuries, beautifully overlooking the Jinvali reservoir.
